Simon Carder
After leaving Plymouth College in 1969 I went to Hertford College, Oxford to study Classics and from there into teaching. My career has been in prep school teaching: Heatherdown (Ascot, Berks), Beachborough (Brackley, Northants) and Eagle House (Sandhurst, Berks).
I was headmaster at the latter two schools covering the years 1979-2006. I was Chairman of IAPS (the national prep schools association) in 2003/4.
In 2006 I retired from headmastering, moved from Berkshire to Plymouth and started up my own educational consultancy business which is still going strong.
A governor of two senior independent schools and two prep schools in Devon and Somerset, I also work as an inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate.
In 2009/10 I was President of Plymouth Rotary Club.
I have been married to Christine for 35 years and we have a daughter (Kalathena) and a son (Barnaby). We love to travel, especially in France and Greece but also further afield, we enjoy walking, reading and the theatre.
